Technical Support Note
Product(s) involve : Sound Blaster 16
Third party product(s) : Rebel Assault
Subject
No sound heard when playing Rebel Assault with SB16.
Description
User will encounter the above-mentioned problem when playing the game with
SB16 using the game's default setting. The configuration utility will set the DMA
channel at 1 (low DMA channel) while the game run in 16-bit native mode (High
DMA channel) when SB16 is selected, therefore no sound is heard.
Solution/Action
This problem can be solved by using the "detect" option after selecting SB16 as
your sound card. The detect option will change the DMA channel to 5 which is
the default for SB16. User can also change to any high DMA channel (eg. 5, 6
or 7) depending on the setting on the SB16 card.
